Rules and Equipment

How to Win!

  • Try and hit the other team with snowballs while dodging counter-attacks
  • Capture the other team's flag within the match time limit, without being hit by a snowball from the opposing team

Basic Rules

  • Each Yukigassen match consists of three periods
  • Each team must prepare 90 snowballs per period (snowball makers will be available onsite)
  • Each period is three minutes long
  • Each team has of seven active players (up to nine players including substitutes)

Equipment

  • MANDITORY EQUIPMENT: Each Yukigassen participant must wear a CSA certified helmet and eye protection (i.e. ski googles, hockey visor, etc.).
  • Active players must Bring Their Own Helmets and Eye Protection, registration does not include helmets.
  • We STRONGLY recommend the use of a helmet and visor instead of goggles.  This reduces the risk of injury to your face, especially your nose.
  • It's winter, dress appropriately! Ski jackets, pants gloves and insulated footware is highly recommended!
